Emily Cooney, PhD
Dr Emily Cooney, PhD received her doctoral degree and diploma in clinical psychology from the University of Otago, New Zealand. She has worked in the US, the UK, and New Zealand with children and adults in a range of inpatient and outpatient settings. Emily has served as a research therapist on two trials of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) under Dr Marsha Linehan at the University of Washington, and was the principal investigator on a feasibility trial comparing DBT with treatment as usual for self-harming adolescents. She co-ordinates a DBT program for suicidal adolescents and their families in New Zealand, however is currently working for the Yale University School of Medicine, where she is interim lead of a DBT team at Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital’s Adult Intensive Outpatient Program.
