DBT Skills Training

DBT Skills are empirically supported strategies to help a variety of clients enhance their capabilities to build a life worth living. They are a core component of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), the evidence-based treatment for BPD and co-occurring disorders.

Learn how to apply and teach the effective DBT Skills of Core Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance, and Emotion Regulation in an incredibly thorough and interactive online learning environment.

DBT Chain Analysis Training

Chain Analysis is about getting a complete picture of a behavior what it is, how it started, and what keeps the behavior repeating. DBT Chain Analysis is a critical, core component of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and a basic skill of CBT-focused therapies. When done correctly, both clinician and client can decipher the variables at work during a behavior, identify patterns, and work collaboratively to put new behaviors into effect.

DBT Validation Principles and Strategies

Validation is an integral part of maintaining any therapeutic relationship and can keep clients positively engaged in therapy and working toward their long-term goals. Virtual clients described in this course represent the most emotionally dysregulated DBT clients with multiple problems. Learn and practice the six levels of DBT validation through interactive exercises, stories, metaphors, case examples, and commentary.

Computer Setup

  • Windows: Make sure you are using a supported version of Windows -- as of May 2016, that means Windows 7 or higher.
  • Mac: Mac OS X 10.1 or higher is required to use these courses. We recommend running the latest version of Mac OS X (10.11). Upgrading to El Capitan is free, and that version will work on Mac computers introduced in 2009 and later.
  • Display: A screen resolution of at least 1024 x 768 is recommended.
  • Sound: Your computer must be able to play sound over speakers or headphones.
