Training Description

This two-day workshop covers the fundamentals of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills: Core Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Participants learn how to plan, structure, and conduct DBT skills classes. This workshop also addresses the targets for skills training, as well as how to apply fundamental DBT strategies in skills training. Extensive teaching and use of clinical examples are used to illustrate specific skills training procedures, assignment and review of homework with clients, and troubleshooting common skills training obstacles. This course is designed for all mental health professionals who want to learn to teach DBT skills or to improve their teaching with clients. This training will include the original DBT skills as developed by Dr. Linehan, and will incorporate material from her recently published DBT® Skills Training Manual, Second Edition.

Trainers

Randy Wolbert, LMSW, CAADC, CCS

Randy Wolbert LMSW, CAADC, CCS, first joined Behavioral Tech in 1999 as a contractual trainer; in May 2015, he transitioned to a full-time role as Trainer and Consultant. Randy has trained and consulted throughout the United States and been involved with several large-scale system implementations of DBT. He is a past member of Behavioral Tech's Trainer Advisory Committee and the Continuing Education Workgroup; he currently serves on the Implementation Science Workgroup.

Randy is also the former Clinical Director of InterAct of Michigan, Inc., where he managed the programs of Assertive Community Treatment, DBT, Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment, and outpatient substance abuse. He received his bachelor’s degree from Calvin College and his MSW from Western Michigan University where he was inducted into the Outstanding Alumni Academy of the College of Health and Human Services in 2009.

He regularly attends mindfulness retreats for mental health professionals offered by the Linehan Institute, and for the last few years he has been studying Zen mindfulness with Marsha Linehan, Roshi.

*Student fee requires proof of current enrollment. Please fax or mail a registration form with copies of current class schedule or student ID. This rate is available until 30 days prior to the training. The number of student spaces is limited.

**Group fee is per person and requires one single payment for all participants no less than 30 days prior to the training. Groups can register online with a credit card payment or mail payment by check with a registration form. For assistance with group registration please call 206.675.8588.

To pay by check, please mail a completed registration form with the check to Behavioral Tech at 1107 NE 45th Street, Suite 230; Seattle, WA 98105.

Behavioral Tech, LLC is not responsible for any presenter's or participant's statements, acts, materials or omissions. The use of audio or video taping devices is not permitted at any training. We reserve the right to cancel the training or to change the speakers and content at our sole discretion.

Cancellation, Substitutions, and Refunds

Registration fees, minus a $50 service charge, will be refunded to participants who send a written cancellation via mail to Behavioral Tech or via email to info@behavioraltech.org postmarked no less than 15 days before the training. No refunds will be made thereafter. A colleague may be substituted for no extra charge if Behavioral Tech, LLC is notified at least two business days before the training. Seat Availability for Onsite Events

The number of seats for our open-enrollment workshops and our application-based trainings is limited by the physical training space that is reserved for the event. Please complete your registration or submit your application at your earliest convenience, as we will not guarantee a seat for you until we have received your registration or tuition payment.

Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors: Behavioral Tech, LLC is approved by the NAADAC – the Association for Addiction Professionals, Provider # 359. This activity is approved for 12.5 contact hours. Behavioral Tech will mail you a letter documenting your attendance upon successful completion of the activity.

Mental Health Counselors: Behavioral Tech is a NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEPTM) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements. The ACEP solely is responsible for all aspects of the program. Behavioral Tech has allocated 12.5 clock hours (0.65 CEUs) for this activity and will email you a letter documenting your attendance upon successful completion of the activity.

Nurses: Behavioral Tech, LLC is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Behavioral Tech designates this educational activity for a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Continuing Medical Education is accepted by the ANCC for nursing certification renewal.
At the end of the training, each Nurse must sign the provided NCR form. Keep the yellow copy & return the white copy to Behavioral Tech.

Psychiatrists: Behavioral Tech, LLC is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Behavioral Tech designates this educational activity for a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
At the end of the training, each Physician must sign the provided NCR form. Keep the yellow copy & return the white copy to Behavioral Tech.

Psychologists: Behavioral Tech, LLC is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. Social Workers: Behavioral Tech, LLC will apply to Florida Department of Health, Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy/MHC , Provider Number BAP-620, to offer continuing education for Certified Social Workers, Marriage & Family Therapists, and Mental Health Counselors.
