Emily Cooney, Ph.D.
Emily Cooney, Ph.D. (Licensed Psychologist) Dr Cooney received a PhD and diploma in clinical psychology from the University of Otago, New Zealand, where she won awards for her masters and dissertation projects. Since completing her training, she has provided individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. She has worked with Prof. Bryan Lask and under the supervision of Dr. Rachel Bryant-Waugh in a specialist eating disorders inpatient program for adolescents and young adults, and was the locum coordinator of the adolescent program at the Bath Pain Management Unit before taking a fellowship at the EBT Center of Seattle. Dr. Cooney has published a chapter on working with suicidal adolescents, and currently serves as a research therapist on two trials of DBT under Dr. Marsha Linehan at the University of Washington. Dr. Cooney is a chartered clinical psychologist in Great Britain, in addition to being a licensed psychologist in Washington state. She is interested in mindfulness meditation, including Vipassana meditation, and is involved in several research projects at EBT Center of Seattle and at the BRTC.
