Heidi L. Heard received her doctorate degree from the University of Washington, where she specialized in personality disorders and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Over the years, she has written numerous theoretical and empirical articles on and conducted extensive training in DBT. Dr. Heard has recently returned from three years at the University of Wales in Great Britain where she did research on autobiographical memory and borderline personality disorder. During her time in Britain, she also served as the director of the British Isles DBT Training Team, providing introductory and advanced training, consultation and supervision to a wide variety of treatment settings throughout Britain and in other European countries. Currently, Dr. Heard divides her time between her continuing role as the director of the British Isles Team and her role as a senior trainer with Behavioral Tech. Her current research focus is on the cost-effectiveness of DBT.
