How long will it take me to complete a course?
Our online training courses are self-paced. The course license that you purchase will give you a set number of months in which to access and complete the training. You will be able to access and work on your course at any time, day or night, from any computer with internet access, a Firefox browser, and an updated copy of Adobe Flash. You will be able to start and stop at any time, and the course will remember your progress.
The number of CE hours indicate, roughly, the amount of time that it would take you to sit and just click through each course and its exercises. In other words, the number of CE hours is often smaller than the true number of hours people invest in completing the course and learning the content.
Foundations of Exposure Therapies has been approved for 10 hours of CE, but is set up differently than our other courses. This course requires that you complete a Level 10 activity in each of the five areas of providing exposure therapies. This could take you much more than 10 hours to complete, depending on your experience and familiarity with the material. However, most customers who choose to take notes and revisit the content spend approximately two to five additional hours per course compared to the approved CE hours.
Can I purchase an extension if I am not able to complete the course in the time allotted?
If you are unable to complete the course before your access expires, you can purchase an extension. To extend your existing online training course, please contact us at email@example.com or call (206) 675-8588.
Can I wait to start my course, or delay my start date?
We strongly encourage you to start your course as soon as you can, due to the uncertain future of Adobe Flash Player and its impact on our online training product line. We want to ensure that customers can use and enjoy the products they have purchased from Behavioral Tech.
If you purchase online training for yourself
Your course will be automatically assigned to your account, and you will have 3, 4, or 6 months of access from your purchase date.
If you purchase multiple online courses for your group
If you purchase two or more online training courses, we will provide you with a course key. We use course keys to help administrators distribute online training licenses to members of their staff. You will receive your course key with your order confirmation. Staff members should use these course keys to start their learning as soon as possible.
Learn more about how to use a course key.
Can I return, exchange, or transfer an online training course?
Please refer to our Sales and Refund Policies page for full information on returning or exchanging an online training course.
Due to CE regulations, we can only transfer access to a course that has not already been opened. If the course has been opened, then we cannot re-assign that license; if the course has not been opened, then we can re-assign that course to a different employee for a $20 admin fee. To find out if a course can be re-assigned, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (206) 675-8588.
Can users share courses?
In order to offer continuing education hours to participants, we must be able to validate the name of the person who has worked through the course and that they have passed the course. As a result, our courses are set up to only allow one user per license. Allowing multiple users per licenses will jeopardize our ability to offer continuing education credits to individuals who have completed the course. Therefore, we cannot support or endorse the sharing of licenses.
Are these courses compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act?
Unfortunately, the online training courses were not developed to the ADA standard. For more information on the ADA standard, please visit the ADA website.
Do the courses have the same content as your in-person trainings?
The online training courses are designed to complement and support, but definitely not to replace, our other training options. Online training courses provide therapists and students with access to quality training in how to provide effective evidence-based treatments for people with a variety of problems.
Will completing any of these courses certify me to do DBT?
Certification in DBT is done by an independent organization, the DBT Linehan Board of Certification. These courses help prepare people to complete the certification process, but completing one or more courses does not certify someone to do DBT. Learn more about how Behavioral Tech can assist you prepare for DBT certification.
Will I receive any additional materials with my Online Training course?
The resources included in an online training course vary from course to course.
People who purchase Mastery of Anxiety & Panic for Adolescents will receive the manual on which the course is based.
There are no supplemental materials included with other online training courses.
Online DBT Skills Training Course makes reference to a workbook. This is the Skills Training Manual for Treating Borderline Personality Disorder (1993 edition). There is a more recent edition of the skills manual, which can be purchased from our Store. The second edition contains the same skills as the original workbook, plus expanded explanations and new DBT skills based on Dr. Linehan’s research. Neither edition of the skills training manual is included with the purchase of the online training course.
Additional resources and handouts may be found embedded for various courses.
What kinds of continuing education units are available?
CE/CME statements are available under the product details for each course. Please reference the product descriptions in our store to learn more about continuing education credits. Once you complete your course, you will be able to choose from a pre-approved list of CE letter types and print your own CE letter of completion from within the course.
If you would like to receive CEs for a discipline that is not listed, please check with your local board. Most healthcare licensing boards have reciprocal relationships with other, larger licensing boards; your board may accept other boards’ approval that they will accept as reciprocal.
