What kinds of CE credits do you offer?
We regularly offer CE credits for the following disciplines. Licensing and continuing education requirements vary by state; please contact your state’s regulatory authority to verify that a course will meet your licensing or continuing education requirements.
- ACCME (psychiatrists and nurses)
- APA (psychologists)
- NAADAC (drug and alcohol counselors)
- NBCC (mental health counselors)
- NASW (Washington State chapter) (social workers and marriage and family therapists)
- New York State Education Department for Social Work, and Psychology (social workers and psychologists)
- Social Work state boards (on an event by event basis) (social workers and marriage and family therapists)
- Marriage and Family Therapist boards (where necessary) (marriage and family therapists)
What if CE credits are not available for my specific discipline?
Behavioral Tech Institute will issue a letter documenting hours and attendance, which you may then submit to your board to petition for CE credit. If your Board has any questions or if they require additional information, please email support@behavioraltech.org.
How many credits will I receive?
The number of credits offered varies by training. Please refer to our course applications and descriptions, training materials, and our website for specific CE information.
What if I don't need CE credits?
You can specify your lack of interest in CEs on the post event evaluation survey. Although if you complete all CE requirements you will be issued a CE letter within the CE delivery timeline.
Do you offer CE for your online training courses?

What if I am unsatisfied with a training?
Grievance Procedures for CE Activities
Behavioral Tech Institute is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the American Psychological Association’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists. Behavioral Tech Institute will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities to be non-discriminatory in promotional activities, program content and in the treatment of program participants. The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of the VP for Institute Services & Director of CE/CME & CCO in consultation with the members of the Executive Leadership Team.
While Behavioral Tech Institute goes to great lengths to assure fair treatment for all participants and attempts to anticipate problems, there will be occasional issues which come to the attention of the staff which require intervention and/or action on the part of the staff or a member of the Executive Leadership Team of Behavioral Tech Institute. This procedural description serves as a guideline for handling such grievances.
- Complaints in the course of an educational activity: Should a participant in any BTECH CE/CME event (including online training and distance education) be unsatisfied, the participant should immediately contact the onsite or assigned BTECH employee to register a complaint, which the employee will attempt to resolve. If required, the BTECH employee will refer the matter to their manager. If the matter is still not resolved, the BTECH employee will immediately contact a member of the BTECH Executive Leadership Team with a referral and a written description of the complaint. The Executive Leadership Team Member will respond either in writing or by telephone to the participant within five business days.
2. Complaints via phone or email: The complaint is first routed through our customer service department who assesses the complaint and either addresses it immediately or sends it to the appropriate department manager to address. If the matter cannot be adequately resolved, the BTECH employee will immediately contact a member of the BTECH Executive Leadership Team with a referral and a written description of the complaint. The Executive Leadership Team Member will respond either in writing or by telephone to the participant within five business days.
3. Complaints regarding the CE Program: If the grievance concerns the Behavioral Tech Institute, LLC CE program, in a specific regard, the VP for Institute Services & Director of CE/CME & CCO will attempt to arbitrate. Do I have to sign in and out at live, instructor-led trainings?
Yes! CE will be issued exclusively to participants who sign in AND out each day. For onsite training, sign in sheets will be available up to 15 minutes after the commencement of the training day, and available again 15 minutes prior to the completion of each day. For live, remote training, participants are required to sign in with their full name on the videoconference platform, and make sure that their name is also listed during the training. This is to ensure that participant’s attendance is logged and recorded.
What if I forgot to sign in and out?
Can I get credit for partial attendance?
Behavioral Tech Institute is an approved CE/CME provider through various CE Boards across the USA; as a result, in order to meet compliance with the requirements of these CE Boards we do require 100% attendance because most of these CE Boards require full attendance for CE eligibility. However, if a participant is unable to meet 100% attendance and they require CEs, Behavioral Tech Institute will only issue partial CEs via the CE Boards that permit partial CE credits. The only standard CE/CME Boards that allows partial CE credits to be issue are the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), National Association of Social Workers – Washington Chapter (NASW-WA), and Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). If your State License Board, accepts any of these CE/CME Boards for your licensure renewal then we will be able to provide partial CE credits to you. However, you will need to check with your State Licensing Board to confirm if this will work.
How long will it take to receive CE credits?
Any instructor-led, non-comprehensive DBT Training — 4-6 weeks after training
Dialectical Behavior Therapy Foundational Training — 2-3 weeks after the homework due date
Dialectical Behavior Therapy Intensive Training — 4-6 weeks after Part 2
Can I get immediate documentation for reimbursement purposes?
For onsite training, you can request and on-site Attendance Verification Form from a BTECH staff member. Please note that this document is not a CE/CME letter, and you will need to check with your agency to see if it is sufficient. For live, remote training, please submit your request for expedited CE/CME letter to support@behavioraltech.org. It may take up to two (2) weeks from date of request for your inquiry to be processed.
How can I get a replacement copy of my CE documentation?
How do I know if I have completed all the requirements to be eligible to receive CEs?
The participants’ eligibility for CEs is NOT tied to their BTECH LMS course completion rate, it’s tied to the following items:
- 100% attendance
- Completion of all post event evaluation survey(s)
- Passing all Final Exam(s)
These components are all verified manually for all live, instructor-led training activities. Please note that if you are participating in DBT Intensive Training and one of the required elements above is missing, someone from the CE department will reach out to either the team lead or to the participant in regards to these missing items for them to make up at a later date. Your Team’s homework assignments (i.e. Case Formulation, Program Information, etc.) are things that you will need to have submitted prior to Part 2 (Practice Improvement Phase) live training sessions, because those materials will be reviewed and presented during those live training sessions and is not tied directly to your CE credits.
Is my exam score high enough to make me eligible for CEs?
To be eligible for CEs, the passing score is 75% or higher.
