Dr. Botanov is a licensed clinical psychologist and assistant professor at Pennsylvania State University – York. He completed his doctoral training at the University of Kansas and his predoctoral internship at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Botanov is interested in clinical science, particularly in relation to depression and suicide. This includes the efficacy and effectiveness of health interventions and mechanisms of change. He seeks to understand not only what interventions work but also how they work. Recently, Dr. Botanov has begun examining clinical science literacy in health professionals and health consumers. Dr. Botanov hopes to explore how the (mis)understanding of science affects clinical practice and people’s understanding of effective interventions. Dr. Botanov’s clinical specialties include dialectical behavior therapy and lifestyle-based interventions (e.g., light therapy), which are often incorporated into his research.
