G.Alan Marlatt, Ph.D., professor of Psychology and Director of the Addictive Behaviors ResearchCenter at the University of Washington, is internationally known for his work in addictions research and treatment. He has published over 200 publications (peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters}; his most influential books are on Relapse Prevention (1985) and HarmReduction (1998).Dr.Marlatt has served on numerous editorial review boards and consulted to federal agencies, including the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. In 2001, the Robert Wood Johnson foundation gave him an Innovators in Substance Abuse award. His current research is supported by a Senior ScientistAward from the NIAAA.
