Mike Batcheler is a New Zealand-based, registered clinical psychologist who has worked in mental health services since the mid-1990s and corrections in the early 1990s. He was a founding member of New Zealand’s first dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) programme in 1998 and was intensively trained in DBT in 2000. He is a founding member of DBTNZ – an International Affiliate of the Linehan Instituted established to advance adherent DBT practice in New Zealand. He currently works as a DBT therapist, skills trainer and programme coordinator in an adult DBT programme. He was a research therapist on a NZ DBT trial with self-harming adolescents and their families. Mike has considerable experience consulting and providing DBT training across a range of formats and settings. He lives in Auckland.
